From Idea to Impact: Our Dev Trails Phase 2 Journey
๐ What if gig workers lost income just because it rained?
That’s not a hypothetical situation — it’s a daily reality for millions of delivery partners across India working with Zomato, Swiggy, Zepto, Amazon, and Dunzo. These workers are the backbone of our fast-paced digital economy, yet their earnings are highly vulnerable to external disruptions such as extreme weather, pollution, and natural disasters.
A single bad day can reduce their income by 20–30%, and currently, there is little to no financial protection available to support them during such events.
๐ก Why does this matter?
Because behind every delivery is a person who depends on consistent income to support their livelihood. When disruptions occur, they bear the full financial burden — without any safety net.
Solving this problem isn’t just about technology — it’s about creating real social impact.
๐ ️ Our Solution
As part of Dev Trails Phase 2, our team is building an AI-enabled parametric insurance platform designed specifically for gig workers.
- ⚡ Automatic payouts when predefined conditions (like extreme weather) are met
- ๐ค AI-based prediction and fraud detection
- ๐ Simple weekly pricing model aligned with gig workers’ earnings
- ๐ Fast, reliable, and no manual claims process
⚡ Challenges We Faced
- Understanding complex parametric insurance models
- Balancing accuracy and fairness in payouts
- Designing a simple and intuitive user experience
